Saturday and the Winona Lake Trail

For a change in pace, I went mountain biking Saturday. I drove 120 miles to the Winona Lake Trail in Warsaw, Indiana. This is a 10.2 mile, fairly technical trail with some pretty good sections. I managed 4 laps, 40.8 miles, at 95 degrees and 85% humidity! It was bloody hot! The high point of the day was when I lost traction on a climb and slid backwards while pedaling, quite a thrill, as I almost went in the lake! Great day! Hot, but great!

A Bad day on the bike beats most other days, except for a good day on the bike!

Sounds like a great ride, Tom! Linda and I have yet to try mountain biking yet. We've talked about perhaps getting a couple of trail bikes to take advantage of the many unpaved trails around the area.

I hear you about the heat also. It's been hot and steamy here for days now it seems. Temps in the mid 90s and humid like a sauna. Saturday, I did a 50 mile club ride and went through 4+ 24oz bottles of fluids over the course. Still lost a couple of pounds during the ride.

    Take care,

    Steve

Hot as it was, I almost regretted not sliding into the lake! The only problem would have been tearing down and re4packing the wheel bearings, my MTB is so old it doesn't have seaed bearings except for the bottom bracket, which I replaced last year after I wore out the original!
