How many days without a rest is "average"?

Here's the deal. I rode 4 days straight now. 3 of which were in oppresive heat, humidity and wind. Would I be a dumbass to want to take tomorrow off? I mean, I know that I could, and get away with it, but SHOULD I?

Up to you! I find that sometimes just taking a "Kelly" day and doing nothing on the bike is a wonderful thing! Generally speaking, I ride 2 days hard, 1 day moderately, 2 more days hard and 1 day off the bike entirely on a six day cycle.

A bad day on the bike beats ANY other day in my life.....except for a good day on the bike!

Well, I'm doing my best to get in my "recovery" days. The problem is, I'm feeling like I'm missing something and getting the urge to hammer. I'm getting twitchy... I don't think I can wait until Tuesday for a group hammerfest.

I get that way sometimes as well, but as hard as I train, I need the recovery time to avoid cannibalizing muscle mass and replenish Glycogen stores. This helps me avoid injury as well. Tear a muscle, or hurt myself any other way = MORE time out of the saddle than a recovery day.Geeked
