    Thanksgiving rides!

Woohoo! Here in the Hoosier state, we had a spectacular Thanksgiving weekend! After Turkey on Thursday, I did a Metric CVentury (Actually, 63.8 miles) and Saturday and Sunday I did two century rides back to back. Sunday I felt fantastic and did a sub 7 hr century! Yeehaw!

On Sunday, I did have one odd occurence though, up by Millersburg, Idiana, I had my butt handed to me by a 75 year old Amishman on an antique Humber Three speed that weighed 40 pounds if it was an oz! It just goes to show, it's the bicyclist, not the bike! He held a 22+ mph average over the 20 miles I was chasing him trying to catch up! When I did, he turned out to be 75 yrs old. Talk about a shock! He was a bit puzzled about my getup, thought the spandex was showy. We had a great talk though, and once he found out the practical aspects of high visibility, moisture management and aerodynamics/drag reduction and visibility, he at least decided it was practical, especially about the factor of visibility! He's thinking about training me this upcoming summer.....if he lives that long (His words, not mine!). This ought to be good training for endurance racing! He rides a bike because it's faster and cheaper than the horse drawn buggy and regularily rides around the area surrounding for about a 50 mile radius, carrying his tools of the trade, which is Farrier! This means he has an additional 40-60 pounds of tools on the bike as well!

A Bad day on the bike beats most other days, except for a good day on the bike!
