Remembering The 1981 IBM PC

Here's a blast from the past, recently featured on The Register. I can distinctly remember having one of these more a couple of employers ago :)

    • Processor: 4.77MHz Intel 8088
    • Memory: 65KB (first shipped with 16KB)

    • Storage: One or two 160KB 5.25" disk drives IBM PC front shot

And let us not forget the operating system that started Microsoft on it's way to becoming the largest software maker in the world:

Still have one running!  It is the user interface for the energy management system on a 1.3 million sqft building.  The system was built by a local company in the early 80's Anderson-Cornelius  The interface can not run a bus faster then 5mhz, due to component layout on the MB it would only run on th 8088 version.  Got our moneys worth out of it, but its going to cost 350k to replace when it goes
